Android-4.3-Jelly-Bean-top-featuresEven though the frequency of Android updates by Google has decreased in the recent times, but they are still as exciting as ever! After a break Google released the latest update to the Jelly Bean OS. For one reason or the other, the new update has been under constant discussion since its release, mainly because some consider it as a poor quality update while others believe the features are very useful.

All in all, the update consists of the following main features: new APIs available for use by developers, restricted profiles, Bluetooth 4.0 low energy and OpenGL ES 3.0.

For a regular user, it would be quite difficult to tell the previous version and this update apart at a first glance unless you go into the settings and check the version. Nonetheless it still encompasses some good features, discusses as follows.

1) Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy:

Bluetooth 4.0, as the name suggests is designed to efficiently utilize power and extent the device battery time, delivering quality speed too.

2) Restricted Profile:

One feature of the new update that is useful to all users. Many a times your friends ask for your phone to make a call or something and before you know it they are browsing your phonebook or photo album. It’s annoying right? Android 4.3 solves this for you. Make a guest profile and apply all the restrictions you desire for it. Whenever you need to lend someone your phone, just switch profiles so they won’t wander elsewhere. The feature also has interesting applications in parental control, where the apps can be restricted so that children do not sneak into stuff on the family tablet that they’re not supposed to.

3) Netflix Streaming:

For the movie goers, this one feature should be enough to update your device. You can now stream movies from Netflix in 1080p! Apart from browsing the web, the second most common use of tablets is watching movies. Now you can utilize your device to its maximum potential by going Full HD.

4) OpenGL ES 3.0:

Any Android developers around? Finally you have the much awaited OpenGL support with Android. Many gamers use their Android devices for the same purpose, so it also means good news to them. OpenGL allows developers to add great level of depth to game graphics, so we should expect better games soon.

5) Faster & Smarter:

According to reports the new update is made faster by doing a few background tweaks to the operating system, making it much more responsive.
