GTA V: What are gamers expecting?

grand-theft-auto-v-5-1680x1050Unless you’ve been living under a rock or somewhere similar, Grand Theft Auto V has taken over the gaming community by storm. Rockstar Studios’ marketing team has done an outstanding job over the last 18 months generating the hype over the game. But with hype comes high expectations which must be met by the game, otherwise it will be nothing more than a high-profile flop (or the way things are proceeding, it might end up being the biggest game flop ever!). Listed below are some of the expectations the gaming community has from this mega title.

1) Location:

The game is based in the fictional city of Los Santos. Does the name ring any bells for old school GTA players? Yes, it’s the same city from Sanandreas and a home to many of the GTA fans. Rockstar claims that the total map size will be greater than Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV and Sanandreas combined, so we should expect a monstrous game area.

2) Customization:

GTA IV was a step down in terms of customization that it offered to gamers when compared with Sanandreas. It is expected that character customization would return with this title. It was one of the many factors behind the ground breaking success of Sanandreas, where players would spend huge amounts of money making CJ look like a real gangster .Considering the new 3 people gameplay, the customization in the game can be amazing.

3) Wildlife:

As seen in the recent gameplay trailer and some screenshots, wildlife will be a part of GTA V. One game that pulled this aspect off really well was Ubisoft’s Far Cry 3. Although the hunting in games have always led to criticism by animal rights societies, but if Ubisoft could pull it off, Rockstar should be able to.

4) Purchasable Items:

At the beginning of the game, the players are poor with hardly any money to spend. But as the game progresses and the money starts rolling in, the point comes very quickly when you don’t know what to do with your money anymore other than spray painting and buying weapons. Hopefully Rockstar will include some big price tag options to spend our money on.

5) Graphics:

Right after the launch of gameplay video, the most talked about aspect of the game was its realistic graphics. Many of the screenshots released by Rockstar show extreme graphics value, something adored by most of the gamers today.

6) Friend Activities:

Remember playing GTA IV? When you wanted to do a little free roam, wreck some cars or do some stunts and your phone rang with your cousin calling you to “go bowling” and if you denied then your respect was deduced? That needs to be removed from this game, because after a while when your contact list expands, these calls start to piss you off.
